Felix Kids Disc Swing

A disc swing is a round wooden seat on a single rope that lets a child sit, kneel, stand or spin in any direction. The Felix Disc Swing is an indoor swing for kids cut from smooth birch plywood, 300 mm across, and it hangs from one secure overhead point for open-ended swinging and twisting.

The disc swing suits children from around 3 years and holds up to 60 kg. The seat is 300 mm in diameter and about 20 mm thick, light at 1.6 kg, with a single rope that hangs to roughly 2.1 metres. As always, one child should swing at a time under adult supervision.

The disc comes with a nylon hanging strap and a carabiner. Fix it to a structural ceiling joist or a rated swing frame, never to plasterboard on its own, and tighten the fittings fully. Give the swing a wide, clear circle underneath since it spins, and keep it well away from walls and furniture.

Because it turns freely, the disc invites more than a straight back and forth. Children sit and spin, kneel, lie across it on their tummy, or stand and balance as they get more confident. All that twisting and steadying builds core strength, balance and spatial awareness while it simply feels like fun.

The disc is solid birch plywood finished with a non-toxic, water-based lacquer, BPA-free and lead-free, with rounded, sanded edges. It carries up to 60 kg, and because it spins, only one child should be on it at a time with a clear space all around.

Check the knot, strap and carabiner before every use, and confirm the overhead anchor is solid. A soft mat or rug underneath cushions the odd tumble, and an adult should stay close, especially while a younger child finds their balance.

They do different jobs. A flat seat swing is made for steady back and forth, while a disc lets a child spin, twist and change position, which works balance and core control harder. Many families hang both, but if you want one swing that keeps play varied, the disc earns its keep.

Spinning stimulates the inner ear, the sense that governs balance and coordination.
