ELI Kids Bed Rail - 120cm

A toddler bed rail is a raised guard along the open side of a bed that stops a young child rolling out in their sleep. The 120 cm ELI runs further down the mattress than a short rail, so it suits a taller child or anyone who shifts around a lot through the night.

The 120 cm ELI suits children from around 18 months to 5 years who have moved into a single bed. It fits mattresses from 20 cm up to 40 cm high, stands 500 mm above the mattress and leaves a 4 cm gap to the bed side. Like the shorter rail, it is not for bunk or loft beds.

The rail is a fixed beech frame joined with screws and nuts, then held to the bed by adjustable straps that loop around the slats, so there is no drilling. Rest it on a flat, stable base, pull the straps tight, and check the joints and straps from time to time to keep it firm.

At 500 mm high and 1200 mm long, it guards more of the mattress while still leaving room to climb in and out. It is solid beech with a clear, non-toxic varnish and rounded edges. Use it on a single flat bed and inspect the fittings regularly.

The ELI is independently tested to ASTM F2085-19 for portable bed rails, to EN 71-1 and EN 71-2 for mechanical and flammability safety, and to AS/NZS ISO 8124-3:2021 for the migration of heavy metals from the finish.

Fold-down rails add a hinge that can work loose and drop when you least want it. The ELI has no moving joint, so the guard stays up at a set height every night. For a restless sleeper who rolls toward the edge, a rail that cannot fold away is the safer bet.

A rail does not need to run the full length of the bed, since the pillow end sits against the headboard and the foot end is rarely a fall risk. The 120 cm ELI covers the middle stretch where a child is most likely to roll out, which is why it suits taller children and larger single mattresses.

The solid beech frame and fixed fittings take nightly use in their stride, and the longer rail stays useful right through the early years. Once your child sleeps safely without it, the straps unclip from the slats cleanly, leaving no holes or marks behind.

An adult should assemble it, and it is made for indoor use on a flat, stable bed. Wipe the beech with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry it straight after, keeping alcohol sprays and harsh cleaners away from the varnish. Check the straps and screw joints every few weeks and retighten if needed.
