ELI Kids Bed Rail - 90cm

A toddler bed rail is a raised guard that runs along the open side of a bed to stop a young child rolling out while they sleep. The ELI fits a single bed and gives your child a clear edge to feel for in the dark, which makes the move from cot to bed less daunting for everyone.

The 90 cm ELI suits children making the move from a cot, roughly from 18 months to 5 years. It fits mattresses from 20 cm up to 40 cm high, sitting 500 mm above the mattress with a 4 cm gap to the bed side. It is not made for bunk or loft beds.

The ELI uses a fixed beech frame held by screw-and-nut joints, then anchors to the bed with adjustable straps that loop around the slats. There is no drilling into the bed. Set it on a flat, stable base, tighten the straps, and check the fittings now and then to keep everything firm.

The 500 mm rail gives solid cover while still letting an older child climb in and out. It is solid beech with a clear, non-toxic varnish and no sharp edges. Keep it to a single flat bed rather than a bunk, and inspect the straps and joints regularly.

The ELI is independently tested to ASTM F2085-19 for portable bed rails, to EN 71-1 and EN 71-2 for mechanical and flammability safety, and to AS/NZS ISO 8124-3:2021 for the migration of heavy metals from the finish.

A fold-down rail is handy for making the bed, but the moving joint can rattle loose and drop at the wrong moment. The ELI stays fixed, so the guard is always up and always at the same height. For a child who moves a lot in their sleep, that steadiness is the whole point.

Most children are ready somewhere between 18 months and three years, often once they start climbing out of the cot or outgrow its length. A bed rail bridges the gap by keeping the open side safe while your child gets used to the space of a bigger bed. There is no single right week, so follow your child.

The solid beech frame and fixed fittings are built for nightly use, and the rail stays useful for as long as your child wants a guarded edge. When they no longer need it, the straps release from the slats without leaving marks or holes in the bed.

Adult assembly is required, and the rail is for indoor use on a flat, stable bed. To clean it, wipe the beech with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry it off, and keep it away from alcohol-based sprays and harsh cleaners that can lift the varnish. Give the straps and joints a quick check every few weeks.
