Everything they need, right there

Mounted on the side of the table, the shelf puts markers, pencils and a favourite toy right where your child is working.

No reaching across the desk or hopping down to fetch things, it’s all at the edge, ready to grab.

A trough, a cup and two handles

The open trough takes rulers, brushes and loose bits, while the little cup keeps pens standing to attention.

It fixes on with screws so it stays put through daily use, and the handle cut-outs let you lift the whole thing off when it’s tidy-up time.

Add one, or one on each end

The shelf slots onto either side of the KAYA table, so you can add storage to one end, or both. It's in the same solid rubberwood so it looks like part of the set.

Solid wood side shelf praised for perfect sizing and smooth, safe surface. Customers said "great addition" for storing art supplies and crayons conveniently. Quality construction noted, though one customer reported assembly difficulty with pieces not fitting properly, requiring force to complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

See all FAQs

What is the KAYA Side Shelf and what does it hold?

The KAYA Side Shelf is a solid rubberwood trough that fixes to the side of your child's KAYA table, giving pencils, stampers, brushes and glue sticks a home off the desktop. An open channel takes longer supplies and a built-in cup keeps pens standing upright, so the work surface stays clear for drawing.

Which KAYA tables does the Side Shelf fit?

The shelf comes in two sizes so you can match it to your table. The Large size suits the KAYA Adjustable Table and Chair Set and the KAYA Pro Adjustable Table with 2 Chairs, while the smaller size fits the compact activity table. Measure your table edge before choosing.

How does the Side Shelf attach to the table?

It fixes firmly to the side of the table with mechanical fixings rather than glue, so it stays put through daily pulling and reaching. Handle cut-outs at each end let your child lift the whole trough off and carry supplies to another spot, then slot it back into place when they are done.

How big is the KAYA Side Shelf?

The Large trough measures 500 mm long, 124 mm deep and 132 mm high, and weighs about 2 kg. It is built from 18 mm solid rubberwood, so it feels sturdy without adding bulk to the table. The open length holds longer rulers and paintbrushes that would otherwise roll around on a flat desktop.

Is the Side Shelf safe for young children?

The trough is solid rubberwood finished with a clear, non-toxic varnish, and every edge is sanded smooth and rounded. Because it clamps to the table rather than sitting loose, there is nothing to tip over. Keep heavier supplies in the cup section so the balance stays even during busy craft sessions.

Is a wooden side shelf worth it over a plastic organiser?

A clip-on plastic caddy tends to crack or slip once children lean on it. This trough is one piece of solid timber that bolts to the table, so it holds firm year after year and matches the warm rubberwood of the KAYA set rather than clashing with it.

How does a side shelf help my child stay tidy?

When every pencil and brush has an obvious spot at the edge of the table, tidying up becomes a quick, clear job your child can manage alone. A clear desktop also helps them focus on the drawing in front of them rather than hunting through a scattered pile of supplies.

How do I fit and clean the Side Shelf?

An adult fits it to the table with the supplied fixings, a short job that needs no special tools. To clean it, wipe the rubberwood with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water and dry it off. Skip harsh chemicals and abrasive pads so the natural finish stays intact.
