Frequently Asked Questions

See all FAQs

My toddler keeps sliding off their chair, can this help?

Feet that dangle make a young child fidget and slide, which is exactly what the KAYA Adjustable Chair sets out to fix.

A built-in footplate gives their feet a firm place to rest, while four seat heights and supportive armrests keep them settled and upright through drawing, meals and story time.

What age and size does the KAYA Chair suit?

The chair is made for children from around 3 to 6 years and holds up to 50 kg.

Its seat measures 295 by 255 mm and lifts through four heights, 190, 220, 250 and 290 mm. That range covers the toddler years into the early school stage as your child gets taller.

What is the footplate on the KAYA chair for?

The built-in footplate gives little feet a solid surface to press against instead of swinging in mid-air. That steadies your child's posture, eases pressure on the lower back and helps them stay comfortable for longer at the table.

It is a key difference from the Large chair, which has no footrest.

How do I adjust the seat as my child grows?

With the chair empty, an adult moves the seat between its four fixed heights in a couple of minutes.

Set it so your child's feet sit flat on the footplate and their elbows reach the tabletop.

Re-check the height every few months, since a good fit changes as your child gets taller.

Should I pick the regular KAYA chair or the Large?

Match the chair to your child. The regular chair has a 295 mm seat and a footplate, which suits toddlers and younger children.

The KAYA Adjustable Chair Large widens the seat to 340 mm with armrests for a bigger child. Both offer the same four heights and 50 kg limit.

Is the KAYA Chair safe for everyday use?

The chair sits on a sturdy, well-balanced frame rated to 50 kg, with softly rounded edges throughout.

It is solid rubberwood sealed with a non-toxic, water-based varnish that is free from BPA and lead. Stand it on a flat, level floor and supervise young children as they climb on and off.

Is a wooden adjustable chair worth it over a plastic one?

A moulded plastic chair fits for a season, then your child outgrows it or it cracks under daily use.

This solid rubberwood chair adjusts across several heights and shrugs off knocks, so one chair covers years of drawing, eating and study rather than a single size.

How do I keep the KAYA chair clean?

Wipe the frame with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water and dry it straight after, clearing spills before they dry on.

Steer clear of harsh chemicals, abrasive pads and standing moisture. The chair arrives flat-packed for adult assembly, and the sealed surface makes marks easy to lift off.
