Storage that stacks up, not out

Sitting on top of the desk, the shelf turns one flat surface into two levels, books and a caddy up top, a crate of bits below, so the desktop underneath stays clear for actual work.

All that extra room without giving up any floor space.

A shelf for lamps, books and treasures

Pencils, storybooks, a night light, a favourite figurine, the open shelf keeps everyday things upright, visible and within reach.

Movable bookends hold books in place, and a lamp clamp hole means a reading light can go right where it’s needed.

Built to grow into the room

Made from warm solid rubberwood with smooth, rounded edges, the shelf settles into a bedroom or study and looks the part alongside the rest of the NALA range.

It’s a small addition that quietly makes the whole study corner calmer and more organised.

Frequently Asked Questions

See all FAQs

How do I stop books piling up on my child's desk?

A busy desktop fills up fast with books, folders and a lamp. The NALA Desktop Shelf lifts all of that off the surface and onto a second tier, so the desk below stays clear for actual work. It measures 1040 mm wide and screws straight onto the NALA Study Desk.

What is the NALA Desktop Shelf and which desk does it fit?

The shelf is an upright storage tier that screws securely onto the NALA Study Desk, turning a flat top into a two-level study station. It stands 435 mm high and 230 mm deep, adding a home for books, stationery and a reading lamp without crowding the writing space.

How do the adjustable bookends work?

Two bookends slide along the shelf and lock wherever you need them, so books of any size stay upright rather than toppling into a heap. Move them together for a few paperbacks or apart for a row of tall picture books, and reset them as your child's collection changes.

What is the lamp clamp hole for?

A pre-drilled hole in the shelf holds a clip-on desk lamp firmly in place, so a reading light shines where your child needs it without eating into the desktop. It keeps the cable up off the writing surface too, which helps the work area stay clear and steady.

Is the NALA Desktop Shelf safe and stable?

Because the shelf screws onto the desk rather than resting loose, it will not slide or tip while your child reaches for a book. It is solid rubberwood with a smooth, non-toxic finish and rounded edges. At 6.5 kg it is best fitted by an adult, then left in place.

Is a desktop shelf worth adding to a study desk?

A clear desk helps a child settle and focus, and vertical storage is the simplest way to get there. Rather than stacking books flat where they slide about, the shelf stands them upright at arm's length, so your child can find what they need and put it back without help.

Will the NALA Desktop Shelf last through the school years?

The shelf is built from the same solid rubberwood as the desk, so it takes daily loading and unloading without sagging or working loose. Its plain, upright shape suits a child's first study corner and still looks right once they reach the busier homework years.

How do I fit and clean the desktop shelf?

An adult screws the shelf onto the NALA desk using the supplied fixings, a straightforward indoor job. To clean it, wipe the rubberwood with a cloth lightly dampened with water, then dry it off. Keep harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and standing moisture away so the finish stays smooth.
